SfAO Ethical Guidelines for Educators

Guiding Principle

We promote learning with integrity, respect, and responsibility toward people and organisations. We are aware of our influence and act transparently, reflectively, and in the best interest of learners and the community.

  1. Put Learners First

Act in the best interest of learners and support real understanding.

  2. Educate Honestly

Share accurate, well-founded knowledge and be transparent about opinions, assumptions, and limits.

  3. Create Safe and Respectful Learning Spaces

Foster inclusion, psychological safety, respect, and open discussion for everyone.

  4. Use Influence Responsibly

Do not manipulate, pressure, exploit, or misuse your role for personal gain.

  5. Protect Privacy and Confidentiality

Handle personal data, discussions, and submitted materials responsibly and confidentially.

  6. Be Fair and Transparent

Ensure assessments, certifications, and learning processes are understandable, consistent, and fair.

  7. Avoid Hidden Commercial Interests

Separate education from sales or promotion. Disclose conflicts of interest where present.

  8. Respect Diversity and Challenge Bias

Treat all people equally by not discriminating or excluding anyone, and by fostering an environment that does not tolerate discrimination or harmful bias, actively discourages such behavior, and promotes inclusion.

  9. Know Your Limits

Work within your competence, actively declaring your limits when they are reached, and seek or recommend qualified support when needed.

  10. Keep Learning and Contributing Responsibly

Continuously improve your practice, reflect on feedback, and contribute positively to the community and to the Society for Adaptive Organisations.
